The Nansa was founded in 1963 and is now the third generation who is in charge of the family business.
Our family tradition with the kitchen has its roots in the nineteenth century. Approximately in 1860, the great great grandmother of the current generation opened the first inn in Piera (his home town), a small rural town in the province of Barcelona. At this time the “hostaleros” combined his work with country life and cultivated vineyards, olive trees and other garden products, rather than personally attended guests.
In the beginning of what would become the “tourist boom”, the vision of the family anticipates the new landscape and decided to move to a small restaurant in Sitges.
Rafecas Antoni, at 22, takes command of the kitchen, with help from their parents in the room and management. With the advice of the great Alejandro Domenech (illustrious chef of the Hotel Colon Barcelona restaurant) made his first letter, which includes some international dishes that are already part of the collective memory.
More than 50 years later, the restaurant is still in the same place as the start, with a seafaring atmosphere that evokes a peaceful and unique time.
The respect and appreciation for the local tradition carried Antoni Rafecas personally make a research on the roots of popular food culture, and to rediscover and popularize Sitges emblematic dishes such as the renowned “Arroz a la Sitgetana”.
Today, the restaurant is based on the family estate to work and offer a product of proximity with personal attention to each client will undoubtedly hand; in knowledge and passion they transmitted Rafecas Antoni and his wife Rosa Maria Codina their children, Mireia and Anton and Francisco; and the challenge of the present generation to protect and grow a family heirloom cookbook that is, while it proposed a contemporary interpretation of classic cuisine betting on local produce.
